The name of Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902) is well known, however most know him as a public figure, whose political agenda was very successful. But in fact, Swami Vivekananda was a sannyasin (monk) who experienced samadhi (self-realization) with the help of his teacher, and who spent many years wandering in his native country after his teacher’s passing.

The essence of his message to mankind, the message that was powerfully conveyed throughout his short life, is not social equality, and not even religious unity but universal God-Realization.

Factually  biography of Ramana Maharshi (1879-1950) is so simple, that it could be described on a few pages. But he was an inexhaustible source of spirituality, a divine "immovable engine", and the story of his life is filled with amazing events that took place with people who were in the sphere of his all-consuming silence. It has always been so: Maharshi remained motionless, while setting in motion thoughts and feelings of those around him.

For the first time these two books are united in the original Maria Nikolaeva series by the Publishing Group "Tradition".

From the Publisher

There are many roads that lead Above and Beyond. Because each person is unique - everyone walks a different path. But there are some lives that are recognized examples of striving towards the Holy Spirit.

"Lives of remarkable people" that are presented in this book show us events, where the hand of God is clearly visible. Their lives confirm that what is important - is not the path that we choose, but what  within us makes this choice.

And may every reader find in these stories his own possibility of human perfection and his own way to the Heavenly Kingdom.
